Timeline

Beyoğlu, Pera's rich and multi-layered history is an endless subject of study for anyone interested. It is possible to witness the transformation of visible structures spanning the Byzantine, Ottoman, and Turkish Republic periods on a daily basis.

During a four-month research process, we considered the changes in architectural texture, programs, and urban networks while also taking into account sociological thresholds. In the light of these readings, observations, and archives, we planned not so much a physical project proposal but rather a narrative as a stop-motion short film.

This journey can be described as exciting, exploratory, thought-provoking, and repeatedly enlightening.

We encountered many topics we had not previously been familiar with.

Enjoy.

If you wish, you can play both screens simultaneously. While observing the changes on Istiklal, you can also see the numerical analyses happening at the same time.
